Run by the husband-and-wife team of Mike & Gill Hayduk, this UK-based family business started over 30 years ago - in distant 1987. Initially the business was focused on making house signs, but following a request for a jigsaw puzzle from the couple’s children, by 1989 everything turned to be puzzles only. The produced puzzles are held within a bowl or a tray and are designed for both play and display. A variety of woods (over forty) leads to the puzzles’ natural colors to produce contrast. Only hardwood is used, with the exception of yew. Most of the designs combine the two disciplines of wood turning and fretwork, with occasional use of routing and abrasive techniques to produce the required shapes. All puzzles are oiled using Danish Oil and polished by hand. In addition, the bowls and trays are given a beeswax polish, resulting in a finish that is soft and smooth to the touch The price range varies from £30 to over £500.
