  • Yew Maze at Hever Castle

Enjoy the challenge of finding your way through the 100 year old Yew Maze. Hugely popular with visitors of all ages, the Yew Maze is situated next to the castle forecourt and measures eighty feet by eighty feet.

The Yew Maze was built in the Edwardian era in 1906 by William Waldorf Astor, who along with a number of other wealthy people created mazes for their own enjoyment.

Comprising more than 1,000 individual yew trees imported from Holland, it measures 80ft by 80ft (24.4m) and is 6,400 square feet. The hedges reach 8ft (2.4m) in height and there is almost a quarter of a mile (0.4km) of pathways inside.

Open all year round, weather permitting (please check at the Information Centre). Please, allow half an hour to explore the Yew Maze. Final entry 45 minutes before the grounds close, and final exit is 15 minutes before they close.
