Straagaarden's Labyrinth

  • Straagaarden's Labyrinth

Straagaarden's Labyrinth was born on 21 December 2017 at the winter solstice, (from Old Norse  hverfa , meaning to “turn”) where darkness ends and light returns on the shortest day of the year, when the sun is furthest south of the Equator.

The labyrinth is a beautiful replica of the famous Chartres Labyrinth, which, with its diameter of 12.5 meters, means that you will walk 262 meters in to the rose in the middle – and the same way out again. Your inner journey will be over half a kilometer. On the journey, you will be embraced by the labyrinth's 112 spikes, which like a cogwheel strengthen your walk and create a vortex of energy.

In the middle of the labyrinth are placed Dhutsi or "blessing pills", which are blessed by monks at the Dalai Lama's palace in Dharamsala through a larger ritual and ceremony.

The beginning of the path to the center of the labyrinth illustrates the pseudo-symmetrical pattern. It looks symmetrical, but it is not. The path transition from segment one, to segment two, and then to segment three and segment four. The path afterwards returns to the former segments. The apparent lack of cohesion is the reason why we, in our understanding of the labyrinth, work with it as four segments, interconnected as one but living separately:
