  • Labyrinth at Dublin City University

Discover the magic and mystery of the Labyrinth and venture on a barefoot walk around it right in the heart of the Dublin City University (DCU) campus. Installed a decade ago, in 2014, it had been conceived as a special DCU Labyrinth Project with detailed plans and meticulous architectural approaches, a special designated Committee of 11, and a fundraising process with entire project cost estimated at around €47K.

The Labyrinth is an integral part of the DCU Inter Faith Centre, Glasnevin Campus. Founded in 1992, DCU Inter Faith Centre was Ireland’s first such centre, and it remains the country's only dedicated Inter Faith facility at third level.

Situated right at the heart of the DCU Glasnevin campus, the labyrinth is a physical space designed to aid reflection and self-centering. The act of placing one foot carefully before the other to reach the middle of the labyrinth, before retracing one’s steps to the perimeter again, slows the pace of life for a period and can help with clarity of thinking.

The DCU Labyrinth is intended as a non-denominational aid to that most precarious of spiritual, mental and physical achievements: balance.
