Labirinto Verde – Nova Petrópolis

  • Labirinto Verde – Nova Petrópolis

The Green Labyrinth is located within Praça das Flores (Praça da República) and is located in the center of Nova Petrópolis, a typical German city of the Serra Gaúcha, Brazil.

It is a challenge to find the center of the labyrinth, and when it does, there is a kind of podium made of cement for you to record the moment. The exit is another challenge. Fun for all ages, first of all children, running among the 2-meter-high cypresses, cut like hedges, and planted in circles.

Every three months the seedlings are pruned, so the cypress grows strong. The Labyrinth is 26 meters in diameter, with 1,700 thousand cypress trees planted.

Easy access, free with parking and public toilets on site. The square is well flowery, the gardens are very colorful, it is really lovely.

Brief History of the Green Labyrinth

Formerly a small soccer field where children and teenagers played, at the end of 1980, residents of the city set out some ideas to make that space, in a tourist spot, that favors the city more.

The suggestion to build the Green Labyrinth was made by Mr. Hans Hesse, a German resident of the city of Nova Petrópolis.

The tourist spot was inaugurated in 1989.
