Which letters should be placed instead of the question marks in the two evergreens and why?
The letters on both evergreens represent the first letters of the day’s hours. The left evergreen features the even hours – Two, Four, Six, Eight, Ten, and… the Noontide (the actual “catch” of the puzzle). The right evergreen features the odd hours – One, Three, Five, Seven, Nine, and Eleven. To fill the gaps “T” [Two] should be on the first flower and “O” [One] – on the second. When superimposed the two flowers produce a whole clock dial.
