St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

One of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. Built between 1882 and 1912 to honor Imperial Russian Army soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish War (1877–78), which led to Bulgaria’s liberation from Ottoman rule. Features golden domes, marble and onyx interiors, and intricate mosaics. A symbol of Bulgarian identity and faith, it dominates Sofia’s skyline.
