Belém Tower

A 16th-century fortress on the Tagus River in Lisbon, commissioned by King Manuel I of Portugal and built by Francisco de Arruda, completed around 1521 to defend the harbor and guide explorers during the Age of Discovery. UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983; enduring symbol of Portugal’s maritime history.
