Trakai Castle

A 15th-century Gothic red-brick castle on an island in Lake Galvė near Trakai, about 28 km (17 mi) west of Vilnius. Constructed by rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as a fortified residence and strategic stronghold. Destroyed in later wars, restored in the 20th century. One of Lithuania’s most iconic historical and tourist landmarks.
