Gyeongbokgung

Grandest of Seoul’s Five Grand Palaces; built 1395 by Joseon Dynasty; symbol of royal power and Confucian order. Destroyed in 1590s, rebuilt in 19th century. Key sights: Gwanghwamun Gate, Hyangwonjeong Pavilion, National Palace Museum. Famous for royal guard ceremony and hanbok-clad visitors.
